Sheer Admiration

Some people are life's heroes.
They are not famous, but they lead a life that is an example to those around them.
These people are to be admired, respected and mentioned.

Bird is the Word's current challenge is the word "admire".
Therefore I took advantage of the opportunity to make a layout about a wonderful family
I absolutely admire and respect... I spent a couple of days with them some years ago and I was blessed.

Let me explain why... Their story really deserves a chance to be told.

It doesn't matter what their names are or where they live.
They are people who lead a life full of love, patience and perseverance (as my journalling says).
So.. many years ago, as soon as their second baby (a boy) was born, they discovered that he suffered from Down Syndrome.  The doctors said that he wouldn't really live a happy life, in case he survived, as the syndrome had affected the function of his heart as well as the gastrointestinal parts of his body.  After a marathon of operations they managed to save him.  The parents were informed that their baby as a child with special needs would require more love, more care, more affection, more strength and many many more hours spent in being looked after.

A few years after all these, these incredible parents thought that it wasn't fair for their little son not to have someone who would be able to fully "understand" his needs, his way of speaking, his mind (his older sister is a healthy person).  Therefore they decided to find and adopt another boy with Down syndrome, so that he would be not only a companion but also a brother to their son
After some searching, one day they found a younger boy with the same syndrom, whose parents had abandoned to an orphanage exactly b/c of his syndrom.  And they adopted him.  You see, what was a shameful problem for the real parents became a reason for others to pour out more love!!!!!  The people who were responsible for organising the adopting procedure couldn't believe how or why someone who already had a little boy with such a difficult care-demanding problem would want to add to his situation a similar one!

From that day on, for almost 20 years they have been raising these two little gentlemen with great patience, care, love and self-sacrifice.

Now you understand why I admire this kind of people, why I respect this family so much.  In a world where almost all care mostly about themselves, there are still people who show God's love to others, not to their own interest.

Without further delay, this is my layout
(you can see the parents as well as the two boys in the photo)

I followed Nadia's sketch and used my Scrap Rat's May kit... I love their kits!  They are so versatile and flexible to use!!
That's all from me now...
I will get back to you soon, with some good news...
