- Add a handwritten journal of minimum 20 words directly on the layout.
- All doodling must be hand doodled!
Not to be used:
- Flowers in any form. So no flowers on your LO. Including your papers and photos and doodling. You can't even doodle flowers on your layout. You can doodle anything else.
- Alphabet stickers, alpha thickers, diecut, punched alpha, handcut alpha, stamped alpha, punched alpha, alphabet using a stencil or any other alphabet embellishment.
Allowed: - Cutting machines and punches are allowed except for alphabets and flowers.

And this is my story:

I admit that this is one of the toughest challenges I took on in my entire scrapbooking history.
And of course, it was un-expected (again). Bep and Nanette know HOW TO SHAKE US & GET US OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONES! lol

Now doodling is a technique that is not usually used in mixed media, layered layouts (like the ones I make).  I personally believe that it's much closer to the art-journalling.
Therefore in front of this challenge, I found myself in the following dilemma:

Either to make something true to my "Melenia" style OR find ideas from Pinterest or other galleries and be inspired (aka start off with them).  I chose the first. I decided to make a page and incorporate/embrace/enfold doodling in my style.  Now this is a big risk because it takes a great deal of skill, in order to put something new into your page in the perfect amount and way.  So my page contains doodling and you can find it around the edges of the layout, as well as around the big cluster where the 4 photos lie upon and on two of the photos.  The theme of my page is the beauty of the butterfly, that's why I mostly doodled butterflies flying around!!!
The journalling and the title are hand-written of course, as you can see.... No flowers, no people.
My words are almost 35 and the text is this

“Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.”  I will always delight in the beauty of a butterfly.
The quote belongs to Trina Paulus, the photo was found in Pinterest.

Some close ups of my page, so you see the doodled parts better

The collection I used was 7 Dots Studio Domestic Goddess.

I don't know if I incorporated doodling successfully but I know that I tried and did all I could!  You will tell me!

I would like to show you now a second page that I made yesterday that contains only doodling and a few feathers!  It is NOT what I use to do in my pages, but I'm happy that I tried this style too (even though it's not me at all).

Just doodling... :)

I'm entering the FIRST PAGE IN THE TOURNAMENT!!!
The second is only for viewing!

Thanks for visiting!!

One with the sky

Good morning everyone!

Here I am again to share with you my double layout for Supreme Scrap Tournament Round 2.
These were the requirements:

  • 1. Pages : 2 pages Layout (double page!)
  • 2. Theme:  You can choose your own theme
  • 3. Colour LO: The monochromatic color scheme you use is up to you
  • 4. How many Photos: Minimum of 1 photo
  • 5. Photos: One photo must be partly on the left and partly on the right page.  One photo needs to be black and white
  • 6. Not to be used: You are restricted from using black anywhere on the layout including, ink, paint, pen lines, journaling or any other elements.  There is not to be black on the page with the exception of your black and white photo(s).  You can not use brown to antique elements unless brown is the colour you choose for your monochromatic colour scheme.
  • 7. Materials you may use: embellishments, ink, media stuff, everything that you want in the monochromatic colour.

Α few things on my layout:

First of all, I chose my favourite colour which is TEAL.  I'm in love with aqua, turqoise, teal... (to be honest, I had enough of them this time lol)!!!  I used 2 photos, one of which is black and white and rests partly on the left and partly on the right pageMy background papers come from the SEI - Chica doo collection, a really old collection that fortunately had a very light teal paper in it and in two copies (thank God)!

My photo is an aerial photo of London in the thick fog (the Canary Wharf building towers above the fog in the low afternoon sun), which I printed in teal tones and in black&white.  The photo is not mine, I found it at Pinterest and fell in love with it immediately.

I created my background with differest shades of teal mists (Studio Calico, Glimmer Mist, LSG Starburst Mists), modelling paste that I coloured with ink (to avoid white) as well as with Ecoline no522 ink (this is the dark ink on top of my main cluster). I stamped with Archival Ink aquamarine and I used Gelato Metallic Mint to accent some parts of the left and right edges of my double page.  I also added drops of Aqua Stickles, that I spread all over the layout... Two Rrima masks were pulled to help me create my page - one of them is the Finnabair's small flowers mask, which I applied Claudine Hellmuth's teal acrylic paint around my big cluster and near the edges of the pages with. My alphas are in two shades, teal and light teal.

And this is what came out

And some close ups

So what do you think? Do you like it?

Within 1000 steps... I meet History

Hello everyone!

I don't know if I have mentioned it (I probably haven't), but I'm teaming up with some amazing fellow Greek scrappers to take part in the Supreme Scrap Tournament... so we are the Greek National Scrap Team yayyy!!!

So the 1st challenge is up and it requires a double-page with at least 3 photos in it, without any use of spray inks (aka misting)... I admit that when I read the rules of the challenge, I got a bit discouraged, because I ALWAYS use mists and spray inks in general, I don't use more than 1 photo and I have only made one double page layout in my life. But then I realised that it was a very good opportunity for me to get out of my comfort zone and challenge my skills a bit.

The theme of the 1st challenge is "1000 Steps from home"

Now a few things about my page:

I used the amazing 7 Dots 9th Wave Collection, which contains my favourite colours...
There are some splatters on the white parts of the background paper that BELONG TO THE ORIGINAL PAPER, I didn't use any spray inks nor did I make splatters. The droplets are part of the design of the paper.  Other than that, I did a lot of layering, gesso-ing and stamping in my layout. The journalling is approximately 60 words.
As for the theme of it, I must say that I live in the city of Heraklion, in Greece.  My city happens to be quite old, so there are a lot of historical monuments in it, within walking distance from where people live. It's also built by the seashore, so I'm very lucky to have the chance to see the Aegean Sea and the history of my city within 1000 steps of my house.  My page celebrates this beautiful, historical, sunny city!

So without further ado, here's my double-page layout

****because for some reason Blogger doesn't want to show my page in a larger scale, please click on the photo, in case you want to see its details****

Ι hope you like it! Wish me luck!
