New beginnings take effort - 7 Dots September challenge

Good morning everyone!!
A new challenge has gone live at the 7 Dots Studio blog!

It's theme is NEW BEGINNINGS.

Interesting, isn't it?  For some reason, when September begins, I feel like I'm entering a new year...
Usually a new year is full of new beginnings!

The rules are simple:
- create any project inspired by our theme
- use at least one 7 Dots Studio product
- publish your project on you blog with a link to our challenge
- do not forget to include in your blog post our "inspirational circle"

This is the inspirational circle (made of DT's projects' sneak peaks)

This is my page
(a key-element of which is the 2 Crafty's Francesca's Journal frame)

and its details

While creating this page, I was thinking that we are all very excited about the new beginnings in life, when they come!  But they always require enthusiasm (which we have) and effort (which we'd rather avoid).  They are not easy, so we need to try and take that first step.  It's like a small boat heading to the other, beautiful side of a lake but there's rowing to be done.  I have used the awesome "Cold Nature" Collection - it wonderfully matches with the watery background of the photo and the mixed media techniques.  13 Arts pastel mists have worked as watercolours again (it's amazing how versatile these magical inks are)!  Of course, I couldn't omit the Modelling Paste and the Silver Glitter lol!!!!

So what do you think? Will you play with us at 7 Dots?  We will be thrilled to see your projects!
The rest of the Design Team has done an AWESOME work with the challenge, I guess you have already taken a small glimpse of that, from the Inspirational Circle!

Have a nice day!

Dream - 2 Crafty Chipboard in a mixed media layout

Hello everyone!
I'm back today with a new mixed-media page,
(oh yes, chipboard can be a key-element of mixed media projects
and this is what I want to show you today)
that features the stunning

2Crafty chipboard

Word Circles
Groovy Flowers
Lavender Shrub
Circle Revolution Frames
Dream - Loopy Font

First I glued the large Circle Revolution Frame on my background paper and gessoed it.
I misted on a mask, that left its print on the circle and then added some micro-beads
in different spots, here and there.

I always love to create clusters of different kinds of embellishments,
so I tucked a small Circle Revolution Frame under my photo
and hid a couple of Groovy Flowers (I just can't do without these amazing flowers)
under and over my flowers.

In order to have balance in the design of my page,
I paired the circle-shaped chipboards
with the Lavender Shrub!

I glittered parts of my chipboard pieces,
so that they would shine more and draw the attention on them.

What's a layout without a title?
I love the Loopy font
and it happened to match perfectly with the style of my page,
so I put the Dream - Loopy Font word on the left of my cluster,
to serve as a title.
So this is my mixed-media page!
I hope you like it!

The sky is the limit - an art-journal page

Good morning everyone!

I have a double art-journal page to share with you today.
I admit that I have focused on creating layouts since I started scrapbooking, but as I discover art-journaling, I get enchanted by it more and more. This one is actually the second art-journalling page I make, but I already promised myself that I will continue experimenting with it, because it's so liberating and fun! One can literally do what they want! No restrictions!

Ayeeda Paints & Pastel Mists are ideal  for art-journals as they are for any type of mixed media projects, because they are versatile and of very good quality!

So this is my art-journal page

and a few details

The Ayeeda Pastel Mists work as watercolours!
The Paints created the textured masked shape!

What is an art-journal page without text?
The Fly Away Stickers served as text - some of them are cut, others are used just the way they were.

Simply beautiful - a video tutorial for 7 Dots Studio

Good morning everyone!!
5 reasons to be grateful today:
September is here,
temperature is cooling down,
schools are about to open here in Greece,
the traffic at the airport is starting to decrease (very slowly, but it is),

and.... this is the day I'm gonna show you my first ever video tutorial!!
It's made exclusively for the 7 Dots Studio and I hope it will inspire you!

A few words before you watch it:

The techniques I used are not my invention -
they are things I learned and developed via online courses and much practice.
This video is just about my own way of implementing those techniques.

The music of this video is from The Piano Guys, who have made renditions of Sergei Rachmaninoff's music and of Disney OSTs. Rachmaninoff has been my absolutely favourite composer since the early years of my adolescence, when I studied piano and many times, I create listening to his awesome, magical music. I also love the soundtrack of the "Frozen" Disney movie and this song has inspired me many times, as well.  So I thought to use the renditions of these two music pieces.

The theme of my page is the beauty of snowflakes. They are simply beautiful.
Nature Walk collection is one of the most versatile collections I have ever touched. Although brown and warm, it can even match with the winter and the snow!

So this is the page

And this is how I made it
