Let it go

Yes, "let it go" is one of my favourite movie songs. And the actual movie  ("frozen") that it came from is a movie that I love.  I have been inspired quite a few times from this song, but this time I was very lucky

because this moodboard

which is Riika Kovasin's moodboard for the ScrapAroundTheWorld April challenge

contains this phrase as well as my forever favourite colour combo: TEAL-BLUE-SILVER/WHITE.

So I couldn't resist at creating a page (although quite intimidated by the stunning entries that have been uploaded already), inspired by this wonderful moodboard!

Some details

(I have die-cut the cage and added it on top of the 2 photos to give volume and draw the centre of gravity just in the middle of the page)

Now a few things about my page:

First of all, I used the colour combo of the moodboard (the 7 Dots Studio 9th Wave collection was exactly what I needed colourwise), as well as the quote for my title and journalling!  Because I love butterflies, I used some to embellish and give motion to my page, expressing the "let it go" attitude and freedom I must have (especially when creating).  The white cracked surface of the moodboard inspired me to create a gesso-made textured background, which is not perfect but it contains broken tiles and some cracked details made with acrylic paint. Lots of tiny details in my page that tell of my tendency to overthink about details and try to achieve perfection every time (well this is unattainable, so I must stop overthinking lol)!!!

I think I elaborated enough!  Hope you like it!

7 Dots April Challenge

Hello everyone!
First of all, let me wish a Happy Easter to all of you!
I hope you have a great Easter Day!

Now the 7 Dots Studio Challenge is here and its theme is just lovely!  There are also some changes in the rules, that you will down in the bottom of this post which I think will help you a lot, if you read them!

"April showers bring May flowers"

And we have an inspirational circle for you this time!

As you see, it contains lots of flowers!!!

My own interpretation

and some details

We all know that in order for the flowers to bloom, some showers are needed first. The same thing happens in life - situations occur that may cause tears and sadness, but we must remember that God has in store something good for us. It's amazing how beautiful emotions, relationships, opportunities can emerge in our lives rights after a hardship and a trial. We should never forget that.  For this layout of mine,  I used the Illumination collection to accent the contrast between the bad situations and the beautiful outcomes.  I think it did a great job in helping me to express my thoughts on this.

So what do you think? Would you like to play with us? Some wonderful prizes are awaiting to be won!  If yes, take a look at the rules!
The rules are simple:
- create any project inspired by our theme
- use at least one 7 Dots Studio product
- publish your project on your blog with a link to our challenge
- do not forget to include in your blog post our "inspirational circle"
We're looking forward to seeing how flowers will inspire you!!

7 Dots Studio projects

Hello everyone!
First of all, let me wish you a very "Happy Easter"!!! I hope you will have a great time with your families and you will celebrate the glorious day of Jesus' Resurrection, that gave to all humanity the hope and faith of eternal life!

Now these are my projects with the amazing 7 Dots Studio collections.
All I have to say is that I did experiment quite a bit with different styles and I even attempted to make my first double art-journalling page!
More detailed pictures of my projects you will find here!

"My darling"

The grey-lilac-teal colour combo of the Cold Country collection, although quite dark, is still perfect for a little girl's page. So I used this stunning collection to scrap an old photo of my darling daughter, Valya... It goes without saying that flowers were essential to create a soft, girly page!

"Always happy"
Now this is a totally different page, style-wise, than the previous one. The story of the little guy a met some years ago is amazing and I have always wanted to create a page to remember the amount of optimism and courage people like him show in life.  Getting to know him and the family that adopted him (his biological parents abandoned him as soon as they discovered that he was suffering from Down syndrome but a wonderful family who already had one child with the same syndrome found him and took him in) was a great blessing for me.  It taught me what self-sacrifice means and how can we humans be really HUMAN. Anyway, this is a page that depicts his love for life, his all-year round happiness and it's all about smiling at life's mistreatments.

"The two faces of my life"
This is my first attempt of making an art journalling page.  I admit it's so liberating! I really had fun doing this double 8x8" page, which talks about the contrast between two different aspects of my life: my job as an airport authority officer and my occupation as a Mom, care-giver and housekeeper. Their differences in the style are obvious and they drive me crazy most of the time! I think every working woman can identify with me in this lol!
The Domestic Goddess collection was the perfect choice, of course.  Its bright colours and theme of course, helped me illustrate this big contrast and express my feelings about these two faces of my life.

Hello for Memories Trend
